Dr. Julie Boland

Biography

Julie Boland is a Professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of Michigan, where she also serves as the Associate Chair for Undergraduate Studies. Her research focuses on the cognitive processes underlying language, particularly in the areas of word recognition and sentence comprehension. She investigates key questions such as how syntactic knowledge is accessed and the relationship between syntactic and semantic processing. Her interests extend to how linguistic ambiguities are resolved and the representations of grammatical knowledge in speech versus the structure of language itself.
