Biography

Dr. Julie Chow is a Research Associate in the Science School of Psychology at UNSW. Her research focuses on the effects of uncertainty on attention and causal learning in belief formation. She is particularly interested in understanding how informational uncertainty guides attention and shapes learning decisions. Dr. Chow aims to comprehend how individuals form specific, sometimes erroneous beliefs within complex and variable environments. Her multifaceted approach to studying psychological phenomena includes behavioral experiments, eye-tracking, and computational modeling. Additionally, she engages in applied research that seeks to understand cognitive biases in learning, which underpin real-world pseudoscientific thinking and misinformation in health contexts.
