Dr. Julie Elginer

Biography

Julie Elginer is an associate professor at the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health, where she teaches master's and doctoral-level courses in the Department of Health Policy and Management. Her courses, including Healthcare Financial Management, Healthcare Marketing, and Building Advocacy Skills in Reproductive Health, consistently rank within the top 3% of faculty for teaching evaluation scores. Dr. Elginer is a multi-year recipient of the 'Outstanding Teacher Upper Division Elective Course' award from the UCLA Public Health Student Association and has been nominated twice for the UCLA Distinguished Teaching Award. As a recognized leader in health policy advocacy, she has led volunteer nonprofit efforts in California and Washington, D.C., drafted legislation, conducted policy analyses, and successfully advocated for various health issues. She has received numerous accolades, including the Spirit of Voluntarism Award from the Junior League of Los Angeles, for her decades of community-based advocacy. Dr. Elginer has held many civic leadership positions, including being appointed as a public member of the California Dental Hygiene Board and serving on various local commissions.
