Biography

K. Lynne Mainzer is an Associate Research Scientist at Johns Hopkins University School of Education and the deputy director of the Center for Technology in Education. She has led significant grant-funded projects, notably the Maryland State Personnel Development Grant focused on advancing achievement for students with special needs and the Steppingstones grant, which developed key educational tools such as Teacher Compass and Student Compass featuring Interventions Strategies Bank. Her expertise encompasses federal grants including Stars Schools, where she collaborated with Maryland Public Television, and the Maryland State Improvement Grant that helped build Maryland Learning Links. She has also launched the OSEP model demonstration grant called Boundless Learning, a K-12 initiative designed to create positive and inclusive learning environments for the 21st century. Over the past two decades, she has taught graduate courses related to effective leadership, school reform, collaborative learning, and technology integration in special education. In recognition of her contributions, she was named one of the Top 25 education professors in Maryland in 2013 and received the Excellence in Online Teaching Award from Johns Hopkins University in 2011. Before her tenure at the Center for Technology in Education, she spent 13 years as a special educator in Maryland schools, where she received the Outstanding Teacher of the Year award and served as a coordinator for the nationally recognized JHU Success program.
