Professor Dr. Kalyani Premkumar

Biography

Dr. Kalyani Premkumar is an Emeritus Professor at the College of Medicine, University of Saskatchewan, specializing in Community Health and Epidemiology. With extensive research interests in educational technology and social accountability in medical education, Dr. Premkumar's work emphasizes the importance of training health professionals to address equity issues in the populations they serve. She has led various projects assessing the long-term impact of medical alumni on social accountability initiatives. Throughout her career, she has contributed to various aspects of medical education, including curriculum design and the integration of simulation-based learning. Dr. Premkumar has also held leadership roles in faculty development and educational support. Her academic qualifications include a PhD in Educational Technology from the University of Calgary, an MSc in Medical Education from the same institution, and an MD from the Christian Medical College in Vellore, India. Dr. Premkumar's commitment to teaching excellence has been recognized through numerous awards such as the Provost's Award for Outstanding Teaching from the University of Saskatchewan and the Teaching Excellence Award from the College of Medicine.
