Biography

Kalypso Filippou works as a Postdoctoral fellow in the Department of Applied Educational Science at Umeå University. Her research focuses on higher education, particularly the experiences of international students and postgraduate thesis supervision within intercultural education contexts. Kalypso is a Senior Editor and co-manager for the Journal Praxis Higher Education and serves as an Associate Editor for the Journal Global Higher Education. She is also a board member of the Consortium Higher Education Researchers Finland (CHERIF) and co-leader of the EqualISM research project, which examines the lived experiences of international students during the COVID-19 pandemic. Kalypso graduated from the Doctoral Programme in Educational Policy, Lifelong Learning, and Comparative Education Research (KEVEKO) at the University of Turku, where her doctoral research focused on international master's degree programmes in Finnish universities. She has significant teaching experience including courses on university pedagogy, supervised master's thesis seminars, and doctoral research supervision. Kalypso has presented at more than 20 national and international conferences and has conducted research visits in New Zealand, Sweden, and Denmark.
