Biography

Dr. Kara Sealock, tenured Professor (Teaching) at the Faculty of Nursing, University of Calgary, has been part of the institution since 2009. She completed her Bachelor of Nursing in 2000, her Master's in Educational Contexts in 2012, and her Doctorate in Adult Learning in 2019. With extensive experience teaching students in clinical theory across all four years, Dr. Sealock is passionate about pathophysiology, assessment, and pharmacology, focusing on populations across the lifespan and aiding students' transition to practitioners to ensure success on the NCLEX-RN. She has strong clinical nursing experience in adult critical care, medical-surgical, and gerontology, in addition to her background in clinical research on cardiovascular endocrinology. Dr. Sealock has presented at various levels, from local to international, and co-authored 'Lilley’s Pharmacology Canadian Health Care Practice'. Her research interests lie in adult learning, particularly cognitive levels in clinical theoretical environments, clinical judgment, faculty development, and innovative teaching methodologies.
