Biography

Dr. Ferran is a lecturer in the Division of Epidemiology and Biostatistics at the School of Public Health, San Diego State University, with a focus on epidemiology. As an infectious disease epidemiologist, she has a strong interest in promoting health approaches to complex human, animal, and environmental health problems. Dr. Ferran is passionate about developing innovative approaches to foster transdisciplinary learning and collaboration. She previously served as the Chief Epidemiologist and Program Manager of the Early Warning Infectious Disease Surveillance (EWIDS) Program at the California Department of Public Health. Additionally, Dr. Ferran is a co-founder of Border Health, a binational multidisciplinary collaborative committed to strengthening surveillance of emerging infectious diseases along the US/Mexico border. She also acts as a Lead Consultant for BetaStatistics, LLC, providing advice to clients in healthcare, pharmaceuticals, and biotechnology industries, as well as academic institutions in research design strategies, biostatistical analyses, and data interpretation.
