Professor Dr. Kate Jackson

Biography

Kate is an Education Focused Lecturer and Deputy Year Director in the School of Physics at the University of New South Wales (UNSW) Sydney. She completed her Doctor of Philosophy in Astrophysics at Monash University in 2019 and holds a Bachelor of Applied Physics from CQUniversity Australia. Kate has experience teaching large cohorts in astrophysics, physics, and biophysics, and is passionate about education design, particularly in online learning environments. She is currently redesigning the content and assessment for a large introductory astronomy course and leading the development of a new first-year astrophysics course aimed at students minoring in astronomy. Kate is actively involved in the UNSW Education Focused community and co-leads the Sessional Academic Community Practice, serving as a peer facilitator for various teaching programs. Her work contributes to advancing pedagogical knowledge and teaching skills among undergraduate teaching assistants.
