Biography

Kathleen Artman Meeker is a Professor of Early Childhood Special Education at the University of Washington's College of Education. She holds a Ph.D. in Special Education from Vanderbilt University, and both an M.Ed. and a B.S. in Early Childhood Special Education from Ohio State University. Her professional journey has included roles as a childcare assistant, elementary school special educator, classroom coach, and content developer, all of which have significantly contributed to her current focus as a researcher, teacher educator, and advocate for inclusive education. Dr. Meeker's research primarily explores high-quality coaching practices in public preschool and childcare settings, with a particular interest in early childhood special education. She is involved in current projects examining toddler language development and social interactions within childcare environments, as well as collaborating with institutions to enhance the preparation of early educators. Additionally, she leads the Haring Center for Inclusive Education, furthering initiatives that promote inclusive practices in early childhood education.
