Biography

Kathryn Dickerson completed her B.A. in Brain Cognitive Sciences at the University of Rochester in 2006. She joined Dr. Mauricio Delgado's lab at Rutgers University-Newark, where she earned her Ph.D. in Behavioral Neural Sciences in 2011. Following her doctorate, she moved to Durham to join the lab of Dr. Alison Adcock at Duke University as a post-doctoral researcher from 2011 to 2016. In 2016, Kathryn received the KL2 award and was promoted to Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Duke University. Her research primarily focuses on the influence of reward motivation on learning and memory, specifically studying the dopamine system in healthy humans and clinical populations through a combination of behavioral methods and functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI), including real-time fMRI techniques. Throughout her career, Kathryn has been actively involved in various professional activities, including co-directing initiatives aimed at promoting equity in academia and engaging with community educational programs.
