Biography

Kathryn Mockler is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Writing at the University of Victoria. She holds a BA in Creative Writing and English Literature from Concordia University in Montreal and an MFA in Screenwriting from the University of British Columbia. Kathryn's professional background includes teaching screenwriting, poetry, and experimental writing at several institutions, including Western University, the University of Windsor, Fanshawe College, and OCAD University. She is also a prolific editor and published author; Mockler served as the editor of the online literary journal Rusty Toque from 2011 to 2017, and was the editor of Joyland Magazine from 2013 to 2020. Kathryn has authored a collection of short stories titled 'Anecdotes', which was published in 2023 and nominated for several literary awards. In addition, she has contributed to a print anthology titled 'Watch Head: Writers & Artists Respond to the Climate Crisis', published by Coach House Books in 2020. Her experimental films have been screened at numerous festivals, and she has received several accolades for her contributions to literature and film.
