Biography

Katie Tackett is an Associate Professor of Practice in the Department of Special Education at the University of Texas at Austin's College of Education. She has extensive experience in educator preparation services and teaches both online and face-to-face courses at the undergraduate level. Tackett directed a Study Abroad program in Taipei, Taiwan, and has served as an undergraduate advisor for the Department of Special Education. Before joining the University of Texas, she was a faculty member at George Mason University in the Division of Special Education and DisAbility. Tackett previously worked as a research analyst at the American Institutes for Research, where she coordinated technical assistance product development for the National Center on Response to Intervention. She earned her Doctorate in Special Education (concentration in Learning Disabilities and Behavior Disorders) from the University of Texas at Austin in 2009. Over her career, Tackett has received numerous awards for her teaching, including the Texas Ten professor recognition and the President's Associates Excellence in Teaching Award. She is actively involved in various academic committees and maintains a commitment to educational excellence.
