Biography

Keith Adamson joined the Factor-Inwentash Faculty of Social Work as an Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream in August 2017 and was promoted to Associate Professor in 2023. He has over 20 years of progressive senior management experience in clinical, management, and professional practice leadership roles, with expertise in Clinical Governance at various esteemed institutions including Mackenzie Health, Women’s College Hospital, and Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital. His management roles have focused on providing a professional practice lens within the Social Work profession, and he has held several appointments including past Chair of the Toronto Health Sciences Academic Network on Inter-professional Collaborative Practice and Vice-President of the Parkdale Community Health Centre in Toronto. As President of the Ontario Association of Social Workers from 2014 to 2018, he led the development of provincial strategies to enhance evidence-based research contributions to the health system and advocated for the inclusion of social work in psychotherapy regulation. Currently, Dr. Adamson’s research seeks to explore innovative pedagogical approaches in interprofessional education, further examines the roles of social work in the evolving healthcare system, and studies compassionate care and empathy in social work education. He is involved in a project aimed at strengthening the role of social workers in primary care across Canada, collaborating with other professionals in this initiative.
