Kenneth Kiesler is a Professor of Conducting at the University of Michigan School of Music, Theatre & Dance, where he serves as the Director of Orchestras. A Grammy nominee and recipient of the American Prize in Conducting, he has had a distinguished career conducting various prestigious orchestras and has a profound impact on the music community. Notably, he is the Conductor Laureate of the Illinois Symphony Orchestra, where he served as music director for two decades. Kiesler has initiated significant commissioning projects, including the Michigan Orchestra Repertoire Equity initiative, and has actively contributed to the field by leading premieres of compositions by esteemed contemporary composers.
