Biography

Kent Williams is a Lecturer in the Department of Culture and Language Studies at Renison University College, University of Waterloo, since 2017. He completed his PhD in Applied Linguistics from Carleton University in 2020. His research focuses on the development and assessment of L2 speech fluency and pronunciation, as well as the use of computer-assisted language learning tools for assessment and learning purposes. He has published in top-tier journals in the field of Applied Linguistics, including a mixed-methods study exploring perceptions of speech fluency in the journal CONTACT. Williams taught internationally for several years in South Korea, Vietnam, and the Czech Republic before joining Waterloo. In his spare time, he enjoys playing and writing music, and spending time with his wife, step-daughter, and pets.
