Biography

Kerrie Coleman is an Assistant Teaching Professor at the Penn State Ross and Carol Nese College of Nursing. With a nursing career that began in 1997 at the Hershey Medical Center, she has developed a specialization in pediatric intermediate intensive care and is a certified nurse educator. After relocating to the Pittsburgh area, she earned her Master’s degree in nursing education and began her teaching career in 2012. In 2017, she completed her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) and took on the role of program director for the associate practical nursing programs at Penn State. She has taught various courses, including RN-BSN and the principles of nursing research and evidence-based practice, fostering a commitment to nursing theory and classroom synergy. Involved with professional organizations such as the American Nurses Association and Sigma Theta Tau International, Kerrie is dedicated to community health and interprofessional collaboration. She has also authored publications related to nursing theory, including a sole-authored work set for release in 2024. Throughout her career, Kerrie has mentored nursing faculty and students, emphasizing the importance of effective teaching and collaboration in nursing education.
