Dr. Khairunisa Hashmani

Biography

Khairunisa Hashmani is an Assistant Professor in the Dental Hygiene Program within the Department of Periodontics and Dental Hygiene at the University of Texas School of Dentistry at Houston (UTSD). She joined the UTSD faculty in 2019 after teaching at Houston Community College, where she contributed to the Dental Hygiene program since 2011. Hashmani has a rich educational background, having developed dental hygiene curriculum at Aga Khan University in Karachi and served as a part-time visiting faculty member teaching Dental Hygiene Theory IV and Community Dental Health. With 18 years of clinical experience, she has worked in various settings, including family, periodontal, and pediatric dental offices. Hashmani has taught a variety of courses, including preclinical, clinical, and community pharmacology as well as practice management for undergraduate students. Currently, she teaches educational seminars, practicums, and capstones in the graduate program at UTSD. Hashmani is actively involved in professional associations such as the American Dental Hygienists’ Association and the American Dental Education Association. She has been recognized for her teaching excellence with the Proctor & Gamble Excellence Teaching Award in 2024 and has presented her work at various conferences.
