Dr. Kimberly Van Haitsma

Biography

Kimberly Van Haitsma is a Clinical Geropsychologist and Professor at the Ross Carol Nese College of Nursing. She serves as the Associate Director of the Tressa Nese Helen Diskevich Center of Geriatric Nursing Excellence and is the Director of the Program for Person Centered Living Systems of Care (PPCLSC). Van Haitsma has held the position of Adjunct Research Scientist at the Polisher Research Institute, Abramson Senior Care. Over her career, she has published more than 100 articles in peer-reviewed journals and has served as Principal Investigator or Co-Principal Investigator on more than 35 grants, with funding from federal, state, and foundation sources. Her research interests focus on developing and testing educational intervention approaches, innovative measurement methods, and implementation strategies for evidence-based, person-centered care practices, particularly for older adults with multiple chronic care conditions. Van Haitsma’s work emphasizes preference-based living activities.
