Kinga Zawada is an Associate Professor in the Department of Languages, Literatures and Cultures at Toronto Metropolitan University. She obtained her PhD in French Literature from the University of Toronto and has been teaching at Ryerson since 2007. Her areas of expertise include French Francophone contemporary theatre, theories of otherness in literary discourse, the culture of French gastronomy, and language acquisition. Professor Zawada has published extensively on eccentric and unconventional characters in the works of playwright Michel Tremblay, as well as adaptations of Dionysian myths in Albert Camus' writing. Having lived in francophone environments in Belgium and France, she enjoys teaching French courses and enhancing students' awareness of cultural aspects in language acquisition. Her passion for language pedagogy led her to pursue additional studies, completing a Master’s Degree in Language Didactics at the University of Clermont-Ferrand. Her current research investigates the intersection of French gastronomy, cultural identity, and representation in literature, aiming to enrich the French as a Second Language curriculum. One of her recent contributions is the co-edited collection "Francijas Garša: Gastronomija un Kultūra. Goût de France: Gastronomie et Culture," which explores the phenomenon of taste and its cultural implications in various art forms.
