Biography

Kristina Edström is an Associate Professor in Engineering Education Development at KTH Royal Institute of Technology. She has been actively participating in engineering education reform both nationally and internationally since 1997. Edström holds a Master of Science in Engineering from Chalmers University and a PhD in Technology Learning from KTH. She was a founding member of the CDIO Initiative aimed at reforming engineering education and has co-authored the book 'Rethinking Engineering Education: The CDIO Approach.' In 2018, she became Editor-in-Chief of the European Journal of Engineering Education, published by SEFI. Edström has been responsible for several courses at KTH, including the Doctoral Supervision course and the Teaching and Learning in Higher Education course, where she has led many participants to successful completion. Her research reflects a critical approach to engineering education development, focusing on the tensions in academic and professional aspects related to curriculum from various perspectives. Edström has supervised several PhD students, with ongoing research emphasizing the critical insights and implications for the development of engineering education.
