Professor Dr. Larike Bronkhorst

Biography

Larike Bronkhorst is currently an associate professor at Utrecht University in the Department of Education. He coordinates the two-year research master’s program in Educational Sciences: Learning Interaction. His research is focused on how individuals learn in various contexts—such as school, home, work, leisure, and online—and aims to untangle the discontinuities in learning that can marginalize individuals in education. His work emphasizes collaboration, and through his PhD research, he unraveled the relationship between researchers and professionals in educational practice to enhance the quality of research. Bronkhorst’s research line, titled 'Learning to Change the World,' investigates how young people engage in climate activism and the learning processes that occur beyond traditional school settings. One notable project is 'Crisis Resilience: Student Empowerment in the Climate Emergency' (2024-2026), which exemplifies his commitment to empowering students. In addition to his research, Larike enjoys teaching and supervising research in academic master programs and teacher education programs in Educational Sciences.
