Biography

Laura Elenbaas studies how children think about people, groups, and society, with expertise in social development, moral development, stereotypes, and prejudice. She is particularly interested in children’s perceptions, reasoning, and experiences related to social inequality and social exclusion. Laura joined the Human Development and Family Science Department at Purdue University in January 2023. She earned her PhD from the University of Maryland in 2017 and served as an Assistant Professor of Psychology at the University of Rochester from 2017 to 2022. Laura has received several accolades, including the 2021 Rising Star Award from the Association for Psychological Science and the 2023 Early Career Research Contributions Award from the Society for Research in Child Development. Her research has been funded by the W.T. Grant Foundation and the American Psychological Association.
