Dr. Laura Snyder

Biography

Professor Snyder teaches and mentors graduate students in the Master of Arts in Teaching Program at Brown University, helping them become effective public school educators in Providence and Central Falls. She offers cohort-wide courses focused on culturally responsive teaching, deeper learning, and technology integration into the curriculum. She also teaches undergraduate courses that emphasize literacy, adolescent literature, and drama within humanities education. As a strong advocate for practice-based education, she integrates engaged scholarship and curriculum development into her teaching. Professor Snyder holds a master's degree in English from the Breadloaf School of English at Middlebury College and completed her doctoral training at the University of California, Berkeley. She has K-12 teaching and administrative experience, contributing to her role at Brown, where she directs the Brown Summer High School, a program aimed at enriching the educational experience of MAT students and local teachers. Professor Snyder collaborates on innovative curriculum projects, including the Humanities Reimagined Project, which curates teaching materials that explore themes of identity and justice through diverse texts. She actively mentors undergraduate researchers and has played a pivotal role in enhancing local educational partnerships.
