Teacher, facilitator, and Associate Teaching Professor, Lauren Bricker, is recognized as a 'geek generator.' With a decade of experience guiding Computer Science students at Lakeside School in Seattle, WA, she joined the faculty of the University of Washington at the Paul G. Allen School of Computer Science & Engineering in Fall 2017. Her primary focus is on teaching Computer Science (CS) courses, including 3D modeling and printing, for students ranging from elementary school to master's level. Bricker also designs makerspaces and facilitates CS teacher training. Before her academic career, she worked as a software engineer and consultant manager at various companies, both large and small. Her research interests encompass Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Supported Collaboration, and computer graphics. Bricker was recognized as a GeekWire STEM Educator of the Year in 2021 and has been featured in GeekWire’s 'Geek Week' since January 2012. She has been invited to give talks at Ignite Seattle, NerdNite, and Maker Faire Seattle, and serves as the president of the Puget Sound Computer Science Teachers Association, which is a chapter of the ACM’s Computer Science Teachers Association.
