Biography

Laurie Hoffman is an assistant professor in the Department of Pediatrics at Brown University, specializing in neonatology with a strong interest in medical education and simulation. She earned her BS in Biochemistry from North Carolina State University in 2003, followed by her MD from the University of Connecticut in 2009. After completing her residency in pediatrics at Hasbro Children’s Hospital in 2012, she went on to complete a neonatology fellowship at Women and Infants Hospital in 2015. Dr. Hoffman serves as a staff attending neonatologist at Women and Infants and co-director of the Care New England Simulation Center, where she focuses on improving education for staff, residents, nurse practitioners, and fellows in areas such as neonatal resuscitation, procedural skill acquisition, and code leadership. She is actively involved in quality improvement initiatives and has led research focusing on language outcomes and interventions to foster enriching language environments for infants. Dr. Hoffman has also taken on leadership roles, including Associate Medical Director of the NICU at Women and Infants since November 2020, and serves as the Course Leader for the Sub-internship in Perinatal Medicine at Brown Medical School.
