Biography

Laurie Weingart is the Richard M. Margaret S. Cyert Professor of Organizational Behavior Theory at Carnegie Mellon University’s Tepper School of Business and co-leads the Collaboration and Conflict Research Lab. She has served as Chair of CMU’s Faculty Senate and as the Interim Provost/Chief Academic Officer, responsible for the academic mission of the university. Weingart has also held roles as Senior Associate Dean of Education, Interim Associate Dean for Masters Programs, and Director of the Accelerate Leadership Center at the Tepper School. She coauthored the book 'The No Club: Putting a Stop to Women's Dead-End Work' and her research focuses on collaboration, conflict, and negotiation, particularly on how differences among individuals can facilitate or hinder effective problem-solving and innovation. An accomplished scholar, Professor Weingart has published over 70 articles and book chapters across management, psychology, and economics. She is a Fellow of the Academy of Management, the Society of Organizational Behavior, and the Society for Experimental Social Psychology. Her award-winning research has been featured in major news outlets worldwide. Weingart has been active in her profession, serving as president of the International Association for Conflict Management and as the founding president of the Interdisciplinary Network for Group Research. She has also been an editor for the influential Academy of Management Annals. She earned her Ph.D. in Organizational Behavior from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University and resides in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
