Dr. Leanne Keddie

Biography

Leanne Keddie is an Associate Professor of Accounting at the Sprott School of Business, Carleton University in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. She earned her PhD in Accountancy at the John Molson School of Business at Concordia University in Montreal, Quebec. Her current research focuses on key areas including the examination of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) performance-based goals in executive bonus plans. Dr. Keddie is leading an interdisciplinary team exploring Canada's transition to a circular economy, specifically how food retailers tackle measurement, reduction, and redirection of food waste. She is also exploring the valuation of natural and cultural capital in the context of UNESCO sites in Canada. Her sustainability accounting research benefits a variety of stakeholders, including management, shareholders, regulators, and standard setters, particularly in contexts relating to social and environmental matters. Dr. Keddie has received funding from organizations such as FRQSC and SSHRC, and has published in prominent journals, including the British Journal of Management and the Sustainability Accounting, Management and Policy Journal. She actively participates in various committees and has contributed her expertise to organizations such as the Conversation, Canadian Climate Institute, and APEC Energy Working Group.
