Dr. Lena Lindgren

Biography

Lena Lindgren is a Professor Emerita at the University of Gothenburg, specializing in Political Science and Public Administration. With a background in Doctorate studies completed in 1991 and a significant role as an Associate Professor since 2001, she has dedicated her professional career to teaching and research with a strong focus on evaluation research and policy analysis. Lindgren's research has evolved over time, addressing issues related to democracy, institution-building in Africa, adult education, the non-profit sector, and educational policy. Her recent emphasis has been on evaluation research, utilizing well-established scientific methods to assess and enhance public sector performance. She has led over 20 evaluations for various government and municipal agencies, particularly in education and social services. Additionally, her teaching contributions span more than two decades at the School of Public Administration, where she has coordinated multiple courses and supervised numerous theses at both bachelor’s and master’s levels. Lindgren is an active participant in professional associations, having served as Chair of the Swedish Evaluation Society and involved with various councils related to higher education and public policy.
