Biography

Leslie holds the position of principal flute with the Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra since 2008. She has served as guest principal flute with distinguished orchestras including the Hallé Orchestra, Bournemouth Symphony, BBC National Orchestra of Wales, Canadian Opera Company Orchestra, National Ballet Orchestra, and Esprit. Leslie has toured extensively in Brazil, Argentina, Japan, Europe, and the U.S., collaborating with prominent conductors such as Sir Simon Rattle. As a soloist, she performed with major orchestras in Canada including the Toronto Symphony Orchestra and CBC Vancouver Orchestra. Notable recital engagements include performances at Phillips Collection in Washington D.C., Dame Myra Hess Concert Series in Chicago, and Taipei’s National Concert Hall. Her festival appearances span the Banff International String Quartet Festival, Oregon Bach Festival, and Salzburg. Leslie’s debut CD, 'Iron Curtain,' received acclaim from Gramophone Magazine, while her solo CD, 'Opera Fantaisie,' garnered praise for its readings of the repertoire from the 'golden age flute.' At age seventeen, she won the Prize at the Canadian National Competitive Festival of Music. After completing her Bachelor of Music degree at the University of Toronto under Douglas Stewart, Leslie advanced her studies with Thomas Nyfenger at Yale University, where she also won the Top Prize in the woodwind category of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation's National Young Performers’ Competition.
