Biography

Lihi Haruvi is a Lecturer in Composition/Theory at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, with a focus on music deeply rooted in Mediterranean soul and jazz traditions. An active member of the international jazz scene, Lihi is a saxophonist, composer, and educator known for her passionate improvisation and belief in the healing power of music. She has shared the stage with jazz masters and Grammy winners, including Danilo Pérez and Luciana Souza, as well as saxophone legends like Dave Liebman and George Garzone. Lihi has collaborated with great arrangers such as Bill Dobbins and Greg Hopkins, and has performed alongside renowned drummer Max Weinberg. She has also worked with musicians like Lamine Touré and the Group Saloum and multi-platinum Israeli artist David Broza. Lihi has been featured as a band leader in prominent festivals worldwide, including the Dominican Republic Jazz Festival, Cork Guinness Jazz Festival, Red Sea Jazz Festival, and Monterey Jazz Festival. In addition to her role at MIT, she serves as an Assistant Professor at Berklee’s Global Jazz Institute, contributing her expertise to the Harmony department of the New England Conservatory Jazz Programs.
