Biography

Liliana Verónica Guerrero is an Assistant Professor at the Butler School of Music, University of Texas at Austin, where she oversees the vocal pedagogy program and teaches applied voice. A daughter of Mexican and Cuban immigrants, her research focuses on advocating for Latin American voices in classical music. Guerrero received fellowship funding from the Society for American Music and her debut album, MILAGROS, consisting of art songs by Latina composers, is set to release in 2025. She is a frequent lecturer and panelist on Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) within voice studies. Guerrero is also the Vice President of Membership for the National Association of Teachers of Singing and an advocate for social justice through music. She has initiated partnerships such as MEET OPERA with the Austin Opera and Austin Public Library, which has introduced hundreds of children to the performing arts. As a lyric coloratura soprano, she has been recognized by numerous awards including the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions. Guerrero has completed the Contemporary Commercial Music Vocal Pedagogy Institute and is a member of multiple professional associations.
