Dr. Lindsay Balfour

Biography

Lindsay Balfour is a Senior Lecturer in Communications at the University of Glasgow, focusing on English Language and Linguistics. She coordinates postgraduate programs in Global Communications and teaches several courses on topics such as Cultures of Globalisation and Digital Intimacy. Previously, she served as an Assistant Professor in Digital Media at Coventry University, where she led a research cluster on Postdigital Intimacies and associated postgraduate research initiatives. Balfour's academic path includes a postdoctoral fellowship at the September 11 Memorial Museum in New York, emphasizing her interdisciplinary approach to media and cultural studies. Holding a PhD in Media and Cultural Studies from the University of British Columbia, her work critically engages with Media Communications Studies, exploring the production, circulation, and reception of digital and postdigital intimacies through feminist and intersectional lenses. Her diverse research interests include digital health, platform studies, and policy implications of emerging communications technologies, with a significant focus on literacy and media communication frameworks.
