Dr. Lindsay Eales

Biography

Lindsay Eales is an Assistant Professor at the University of Alberta in the Faculty of Kinesiology, Sport, and Recreation, where they focus on interdisciplinary research and practice in adapted physical activity and critical disability studies. With over twenty years of experience as a registered occupational therapist, Eales employs qualitative and arts-based methodologies to explore themes such as disability justice, trauma-informed practice, and mad studies. They co-direct Movements CreateSpace, promoting justice-oriented dance and movement practices. Eales has successfully presented their research and performances nationally and internationally and has contributed to numerous publications that examine the intersections of disability, art, and social justice. Their teaching and creative work are rooted in personalized approaches that center the voices and experiences of marginalized communities, especially within disability art and integrated dance contexts. Eales also actively collaborates on various research-creation projects which engage with themes of accessibility and intersectionality in movement and performance.
