Biography

Lisa O. Bontrager is a distinguished music professor emerita specializing in horn performance. She has performed as a soloist and chamber musician across the United States, Europe, South America, Central America, and Japan, touring with the Millennium Brass Quintet and MirrorImage horn duo. Bontrager has been featured as an artist at various prestigious events, including the Southeast Horn Workshop, International Women’s Brass Conference, and the Western United States Horn Symposium, alongside serving as a concerto soloist with the National Symphony Orchestra in Paraguay. She is recognized for her teaching expertise, having presented masterclasses globally, including places like Greece, Costa Rica, and Japan. Bontrager received the 2008 Faculty Scholar Medal for Arts and Humanities at Penn State and has taught at the Interlochen Arts Camp for six summers. She is an active performer with the Pennsylvania Chamber Orchestra and Altoona Symphony, among others. Bontrager is also an elected member of the Advisory Council for the International Horn Society and has released several recordings, including a solo CD titled 'Hunter’s Moon.'
