Lisa D. Cain joined UTHealth Houston School of Dentistry faculty in 2017 as a professor and associate dean for Professional Development and Faculty Affairs. She also holds the position of adjunct professor in the Department of Neurobiology and Anatomy at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston. In 2023, she was designated associate vice president for Faculty Affairs Development at UTHealth Houston. Prior to her current position, she served as an associate professor in the Department of Neuroscience and Cell Biology at The University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB) Galveston, where she also held various leadership roles such as director of the Medical School Enrichment Programs and assistant dean for Faculty Affairs. Dr. Cain has led initiatives in faculty development at regional, national, and international levels and is currently the chair of the American Association of Medical Colleges Group on Faculty Affairs. Her extensive experience includes governance in faculty affairs and significant contributions to medical education for over 30 years. Dr. Cain focuses on teaching Head and Neck Anatomy and has received several awards for her teaching excellence, including the UT System Regents’ Outstanding Teaching Award in 2015. She is involved in leadership development for women in dentistry and has been instrumental in founding regional consortiums for faculty success. In addition to her academic roles, she is a certified executive leadership coach and actively engages in educational consultancy at various levels.
