Biography

Professor Lisa Harvey-Smith is an astrophysicist and Professor of Practice at the University of New South Wales (UNSW). She has been serving as Australia's Women in STEM Ambassador, where she leads a team at UNSW conducting research to promote public engagement and develop advocacy and educational programs that aim to drive systemic change for greater inclusion in STEM fields. Additionally, she is the program ambassador for Future, a national STEM careers program based at UNSW that aims to demonstrate to primary teachers and parents the importance of STEM for everyone. Professor Harvey-Smith is also an award-winning author of STEM books for both adults and children, and she has appeared as a presenter on ABC's popular television series, Stargazing Live, where she shares her passion for astronomy with the world. She currently serves on the International Advisory Board of the Quad Fellowship and has previously been a member of the boards of the Australian Space Agency and Questacon.
