Biography

Lisa M. Stulberg is an Associate Professor at New York University's Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development, where she contributes as an affiliated faculty member in the Department of Sociology. Her research focuses primarily on the intersections of politics, race, education, affirmative action, higher education, school choice policy, and LGBTQ+ social change. She has also co-edited impactful publications such as 'Emancipatory Promise: Charter Schools and Progressive Politics of School Choice' (SUNY Press, 2004) and 'Diversity in American Higher Education: A Comprehensive Approach' (Routledge, 2011). Currently, she is working on a book in collaboration with Anthony S. Chen from Northwestern University that delves into the origins of race-conscious affirmative action in college admissions. Moreover, she is developing a manuscript that explores the connection between pop culture and LGBTQ+ social change, titled 'Win the Culture War: LGBTQ+ Social Change and Pop Culture'. Through her sociology education program, she aims to analyze educational problems and issues, particularly focusing on educational equity and social justice.
