Dr. Liselotte Kjellmer

Biography

Liselotte Kjellmer is an Assistant Professor at the University of Gothenburg, specializing in special education. Her research focuses on communication development in children, particularly those with speech, language, and communication needs (SLCN) arising from neurodevelopmental disorders such as Autism and ADHD. Licensed as a speech-language pathologist since 1996, Liselotte has over 25 years of clinical experience with children and youth facing language difficulties. She earned her Ph.D. from the University of Washington in 2006 and has held research positions at prominent institutions like the Karolinska Institutet and the Gillberg Neuropsychiatry Centre. Her work aims to create accessible learning environments and develop language-promoting teaching strategies to support children with SLCN. Notably, she is involved in the research platform PRIS, focusing on inclusive education. Liselotte has taught various courses related to language disorders, special education perspectives, and neurodevelopmental issues at multiple academic levels since 2003, including supervision for doctoral students. Her commitment to enhancing educational practices is evident in her collaborative projects that utilize visual support to promote accessibility in learning environments.
