Dr. Lisette Van Gemert Pijnen

Biography

Lisette van Gemert-Pijnen is a Full Professor of Persuasive Health Technology at the University of Twente, leading the Persuasive Health Technology Lab within the Center for eHealth & Wellbeing Research. Her research focuses on the design, implementation, and evaluation of human-centered technologies aimed at improving healthcare quality and safety. Van Gemert-Pijnen’s interdisciplinary approach integrates persuasive psychology, engineering, and implementation science to address health-related challenges. She actively collaborates with several international universities, including the University of Waterloo and the University of Oulu, enhancing the exchange of knowledge and research in the field of persuasive health technology. Her work includes the development of user-centered applications and business models that support behavior change and health management, particularly concerning chronic diseases and infectious diseases in the Euregio region. She has published extensively on eHealth interventions, user engagement, and the application of persuasive technology in healthcare settings, contributing significantly to both academic literature and practical applications in health sciences.
