Dr. Lucy Roscoe

Biography

Lucy Roscoe is an Illustrator with experience in Craft, Design, and Art. She collaborates with various clients and engages with libraries, museums, and archives, notably the National Library of Scotland and the National Museum of Scotland. Lucy designs workshops and materials that allow users to engage creatively with artefacts. She teaches within the Undergraduate Illustration Programme at the Edinburgh College of Art and focuses on innovative pedagogical approaches using book forms to enhance teaching and learning. Her work encourages students to explore the narrative potential of materials and emphasizes the importance of audience engagement in their projects. Lucy’s illustration practice incorporates drawing, printmaking, and bookbinding, and she seeks to make creative skills accessible through workshops that promote lifelong learning and well-being. Her research interests include the artistic use of book forms and their implications for education, participation, and health. Lucy aims to expand the role of creative books in diverse groups by facilitating understanding of the design process and promoting individual expression through storytelling.
