Biography

Luis Emilio Bruni holds a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology from the Institute of Molecular Biology, University of Copenhagen, Denmark. He also holds a Master of Science in International and Global Relations from Universidad Central de Venezuela and a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Engineering from Pennsylvania State University, USA. His current research interests focus on narrative cognition, extended reality, digital interactive technologies, and affective computing. He is the founder and director of the Augmented Cognition Lab at Aalborg University, which studies perception, cognition, and aesthetic experience in immersive media. Bruni is a recognized expert in semiotics, media cognition, and interactive digital narratives. He served as the president of the Nordic Association for Semiotic Studies and is a founding member of the International Society of Biosemiotic Studies, where he currently sits on the executive committee. In addition to his academic roles, he has experience as a guest lecturer in bioethics and sustainability at the University of Copenhagen. His extensive research background includes positions related to biodiversity and sustainable development in Venezuela.
