Biography

Lynn completed her PhD at the University of Glasgow in 2011, with a project funded by the AHRC that examined contemporary production within children’s public service broadcasting, focusing on an extended case study of BBC Scotland’s Children’s Department. In addition to her academic credentials, which include an MLitt in Film and Television Studies from the University of Glasgow and undergraduate degrees in Drama and English from Lancaster University and Law from the University of Strathclyde, she has taught a range of subjects such as children’s literature and socio-legal studies. Lynn has previously held significant roles, including being the inaugural editor of the Children’s Media Yearbook and a trustee for Voice Listener Viewer. Her research interests include children’s media, digital literacy, and the socio-economic factors influencing children’s experiences in digital environments. Currently, she teaches courses in media management and cultural policy, as well as supervising dissertations for Master's programmes. Lynn is also involved in various research projects addressing the implications of in-app purchasing in children's games and has participated in significant conferences and discussions surrounding media literacy and childhood education.
