Biography

Maja Cederberg joined the Department of Sociology and Work Science at the University of Gothenburg in September 2018, previously serving as a Senior Lecturer in Sociology at Oxford Brookes University, UK. Her research interests encompass international migration, work and employment, gender, social class, and social inequalities. Cederberg examines the structures and processes related to gender and social class that contribute to shaping the experiences of migration and the incorporation of migrants into the labor market and wider society. Her qualitative research expertise lies in biographical narrative interviewing methods. Cederberg's work has been published in journals such as Sociology, Acta Sociologica, the Journal of Ethnic and Migration Studies, and Migration Studies. She is currently engaged in a research project exploring the motivations and lived experiences associated with return migration among Swedish families who have lived abroad for employment-related reasons. This project, titled "Coming 'Home' Uncertainty: Return Experiences and Constructions of Home among Swedish Mobile Families," is funded by the Swedish Research Council.
