Biography

Marie-France Marin is a researcher with a Ph.D. in Neurosciences. Her research primarily focuses on the neurobiology of negative and traumatic memories. Throughout her doctoral studies, she developed expertise on the impact of stress and stress hormones on the modulation of negative emotional memories. During a four-year postdoctoral training, she deepened her knowledge of the modulation of mnemonic processes, particularly concerning memories related to fear and trauma. Since September 2016, she has led her research laboratory at the Research Center of the Institut universitaire en santé mentale de Montréal. Her team's work aims to better understand the environmental and biological factors that influence the formation of fear memories and safety-related memories. The ultimate goal of her research is to identify mechanisms that increase vulnerability to the development of post-traumatic stress disorder and anxiety disorders.
