Biography

Professor in the Department of Psychology at the University of Montreal since 2015, Marie-Julie Béliveau previously worked as a psychologist at Rivière-des-Prairies Hospital in the Early Childhood Psychiatric Clinic from 2004 to 2015. She teaches psychopathology and assessment of children and adolescents at the graduate level, and annually supervises a practicum in child and adolescent assessment at the University of Montreal's Psychology Clinic. Her research focuses on the development and adaptation of children with developmental vulnerabilities, specifically in identifying the precursors and maintaining factors of developmental difficulties. She leads the Laboratory for Research on Development and Adaptation (LabDA) and investigates the co-occurrence of developmental disorders, particularly in children facing emotional and behavioral issues. Her expertise includes child-parent attachment, cognitive and emotional development assessment, and the dynamics of parent-child relationships. She aims to enhance early identification and understanding of the mechanisms underlying psychopathology and neurodevelopmental disorders, as well as improve psychosocial adaptation outcomes for affected children and their families.
