Dr. Mariel Miller

Biography

Mariel Miller is an Assistant Professor at the University of Victoria, focusing on Educational Psychology with a specialization in Learning and Instructional Sciences. Her research centers on the intersection of learning, teaching, and technology, with a particular emphasis on the social aspects of learning. As the Associate Director of the Technology Integration Evaluation Research Lab, she investigates self-, co-, and socially-shared regulation in collaborative teamwork within technology-mediated contexts. Mariel also explores educators' and learners' perceptions of teaching with technology and the ethical interactions involved in advanced technologies, such as Generative AI and learning analytics. With a strong background in Educational Psychology and instructional sciences, she has extensive experience as the Director of Curriculum Teaching Support at the University of Victoria, where she led initiatives in learning design and educational technology. Her research interests include regulated learning, digital literacies, collaborative learning, and equitable access to education.
