Biography

Marisa Gaetanne is a Sessional Lecturer in Voice at the School of Music at the University of British Columbia. She is a lyric coloratura soprano who has performed in opera and oratorio recitals across Europe, Canada, and the United States. With a robust educational background that includes extensive studies in Italy and England funded by a Canada Council award, Marisa brings a wealth of experience to her teaching role. She has a foundation in French immersion from Montréal and a strong proficiency in Italian language literature from her time in Florence. Marisa is a distinguished winner of the Metropolitan Opera Auditions in the Northwest Region and has been recognized in the Eckhardt-Gramatté Competition. As a soloist, she has collaborated with prominent ensembles including the Vancouver Symphony, Vancouver Bach Choir, Vancouver New Music, and Vancouver Early Music. Since her appointment to the UBC faculty in 1999, she has also served as the Music Director for the Vancouver Bach Children’s Chorus, a training program for young singers, and provides private lessons in voice.
