Biography

Mark Bedillion joined Carnegie Mellon University’s Department of Mechanical Engineering in fall 2016 as an associate teaching professor. His prior experience includes serving as an associate professor at the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology from spring 2011 to spring 2016. Bedillion has a seven-year industrial background at Seagate Technology, where he worked in research and development of servo-control architectures. His teaching interests encompass mechatronics and control systems, catering to both undergraduate and graduate levels. Research interests include distributed manipulation, control applications in data storage, control applications in manufacturing, and STEM education. He emphasizes a hands-on, design-driven approach to mechanics education, responding to students' desires for experiential learning opportunities in mechanics courses, and is involved in developing inclusive teaching strategies as a Provost’s Inclusive Teaching Fellow.
