Biography

Mark McEwen joined the Boston Symphony Orchestra oboe section in September 1996. He has held Principal Oboe positions with the Florida Orchestra and various music festivals, including Taipei Elora and Orchester Staatsbad Meinberg in Germany. McEwen has performed extensively with the Milwaukee Symphony, Atlanta Symphony, and served as an English horn player for the Santa Fe Opera seasons. As a soloist, he has collaborated with the Boston Classical Orchestra and participated in varied chamber music concerts through the Boston Symphony Chamber Players, including BSO’s Prelude series. An alumnus of the Tanglewood Music Center, he has also held fellowships at the Aspen Music Festival and the Colorado Philharmonic. McEwen studied at the Curtis Institute of Music and has been a faculty member at the New England Conservatory and Boston University.
